HealthCare Administrator
Duties and Responsibilities:
HealthCare Administrators are in charge of answering phone calls, filling out patient’s information, issuing and paying bills, and processing insurance claims. They manage the administrative tasks of hospitals, medical labs, physician practices, and other health care facilities. They also train new workers, tell them what to do and making sure they do stuff right. They assign appointments for patients to see the doctor. Depending on what type of HealthCare Administrator you are, you’ll get different types of jobs. For example some administrators go to meetings and represent their hospital.
Salary: The best pay is $139,400 yearly or $67.02 per hour
Education:
Some people have bachelor’s degrees, but most have a master’s. People who have a bachelor’s degree usually have it in public health, public administration or business administration. You are fine with either one, you can still become a HealthCare Administrator. Depending on what type of administrator you are, you will need some certificate, like if you’re a nursing home administrator. It also depends in the state that you are working in, they might ask for different things. The master’s and bachelor’s degrees won’t change, though.
Demand:
The outlook for HealthCare Administrator is high. It is believed to grow 23% by 2022, according to US Bureau of Labor Statistics. This growth is more than other professionals.
Reflection:
I have always found it interesting to sit behind a desk with a computer and help out patients. I used to do that myself, play will my cousins and pretend they were patients and I was the administrator, so this has always been fun for me. I don’t know if I’ll like to become one, but what I do know is that it is very interesting to me.
