Environmental Health Specialist
Duties and Responsibilities:
Environmental Health specialist make sure that the residential, industrial, commercial, and recreational settings are safe and clean. People mostly know them as safety inspectors, but their professional name is Environmental Health Specialist. Main responsibilities of this job is to find out possible health hazard and make that living environment better. They check factories for pollution or industrial waste; inspect restaurants for cleanliness; inspect schools, and stuff like that. They make sure that anything use by the public is safe for them to actually use. If they aren’t safe they fix whatever problems there is or if they can’t fix it they close it down.
Salary: $37,300- $57,551 per year
Education:
You are required at least a bachelor’s degree and know the courses of chemistry, biology, public health, physical science, and environmental engineering. If you want to work for the government you need a certification course from the local, state, or federal agency. The training and certificate depend on the types of facilities being inspected. You can also receive a specialist certification when dealing with hazardous materials.
Demand: The demand for Environmental Health Specialist is expected to grow by 11% as the population is growing. Also because of people’s worry in hazardous materials and the environment itself.
Reflection:
I wouldn’t make this my career, but I would like to be involved in it to help my community out. I want to make this a better world and by getting involved in this it can be possible. I will do this like a side thing not really my job or anything like that. Just like if I want to go clean the beach or any setting like that I would do it.
