"You will go far with CTR"

-Mr. Haymore

This statement is informing us that when you CTR you will keep going up. You will accomplish all your goals if you keep trying and do what is right. For example, today we talked about the two Currys; Steph Curry and JamesOn Curry. JamesOn was one of the best high school basketball players while Steph wasn't. Now that they are all grown up Steph is one of the best players from professional basketball and JamesOn is just gone. Steph decided to try the best he can in order to get to where he wanted. He never gave up and if he didn't do good before then he kept trying in order to do good in the future. JamesOn on the other hand was CTW and decided to get into drug. I honestly don't know why he did it, but I hope he wan't the type who thought he didn't have to work hard anymore just because he was good. This example didn't just teach us the difference between the two, but it also offered an inside about life. It taught us that if we have a dream then we should work hard to accomplish it and once we accomplished it we should continue working hard. Another example is related to Shawn Mendes. He worked hard to get where he is know and he made sure that no one ever got to him, the mean things others said about him he decided to ignore them. He has accomplished many things, but still he makes sure to continue working hard. He hardly takes breaks, he is either on Tour, writing songs, or doing something that relates to his career as an artist. Once you have your dream make sure you grab it and never let it go because you don't know if you will get it back. Just be a CTR person and you will get far in life.

Class Evaluation

Some things I like about this class is that everyday we learn something new. We either learn about different careers that we may be interested in or we learn about life lessons we can take with us and use in our daily life. The thing I liked the most was the Student Success Statements since it taught certain life lessons. Also some of the statements were things I believe in.

Some things I didn't like about this class was that some statements were bias. For example, we see someone with a tattoo and we right away assume they are bad people just because they have a tattoo. I disagree with that because I know people who have tattoos and they are super nice. I am not saying they all are, but what I am trying to say is that we shouldn't let one person define a group of people.

Some recommendations for improving the class is to let students type other things beside Student Success Statements and Careers. Maybe ask them to type about a celebrities they might like and why. Also I recommend that the Statements don't say all people who do certain things makes them all bad because not all of them are the same.

A highlight for me in this class was when I was able to come up with my own Statements and look up a career of my choice. I also enjoyed when we were taught different things to do with computers. For example, learning about coding and creating our own stuff with codes. Another thing I enjoyed is learning how to type faster and memorizing some of the letters in the keyboard.

I feel like I do, do my best in this class, especially in the Student Success Statements. I always think hard about what I am suppose to be typing about. When it comes to the statements I try to put myself in the position that the statement is relating to. For example, I try to think about what I will be if I was going through that and I try to think of examples that will fit in with the statement.

Yes, I am reading my Life Planning Goals Journal for at least five minutes daily. I like my mind to be constantly on, on what I want to achieved. This way I know what I can achieve right now and what I will need to work harder on in order to achieve it later on. Some goals are related to when I grow up so I know I can't accomplish them right now, but when the time is right I will.

I am commit to try to be a CTR person 24/7. I can't say that I am 100% commit because if for some reason, at some point I am not a CTR person I will feel like I lied because I choose the wrong. The only promise I can make right now is that I will try my best to be the best version of myself. I promise to try to help others and change the world in a positive way.

The Ultimate choice is to be a CTR Person - to Always Choose the Right 24/7!!!
-Mr.Haymore
We make choices every minute of everyday. Everything you have done so far today was a choice and you may not think it is because you didn’t take time to make that choice, but it’s still a choice. I just made a choice right now by thinking about how to write this in order to explain it. We make choices, but a lot of us don’t choose to do what is right. We agree to anything really fast, but when it comes to choosing the right few people agree to it. Choosing the right is the most important choice yet we don’t do it. Choosing the right makes you feel good about yourself. For example, when you see someone needs help it is easier to ignore it, but if you actually help that person you will feel better afterwards. You also get more freedom when you choose the right. Your parents will trust you more and you will be able to do more things with your friends. Also if you choose the right you don’t have to worry about going to jail or anything like that because you know you haven’t done anything bad. Try it out once and if you end up liking the feeling of doing good then continue doing it and pass it on to others. In order to make this a better world where people help others instead of hurting others then you have to start with you. Once you become a better person then help those around you become a better person as well.

Music
I choose this topic because I feel that music is the only thing that really connects us. We are all different, but when it comes to music that’s where people from different places, race, etc., all come together for one thing. We each understand certain songs differently, but at the end we find people who love that same song and the same artists. I have met people who I really don’t know, but our love for that artist is what brought us together. We all love different artists, but somewhere out there, there’s someone who has the same idol as you. When you become part of a fandom, you finally feel like you belong there. For example, I am part of many fandoms, but the one I enjoy being in the most is the Mendes Army. The Mendes Army is the fandom name for those who support Shawn Mendes. That fandom is one of the most positive people and you always see us spreading love and kindness. The reason why we are like that is because we have an amazing idol who teaches us to be kind to each other. I have been in that fandom for around two to three years and every time it gets better and I learn new things. Yesterday, June 4, was actually a very special day for two reasons. First, it was Mendes Army Day because three years ago yesterday Shawn Mendes got signed with Island Records and he has come so far since. Secondly, the benefit concert for the Manchester attack, happened yesterday. People and artists all came together and showed everyone the importance of music and how we won’t let anyone tear it down. Someone comes and tries to make us be afraid of going to concerts and enjoying our music, but music is too important and we let anyone take it away. That is really what yesterday was about, people coming together to show that we aren’t scared. We will keep enjoying our music no matter what anyone does. Every Time they try to tear us down, we will come up stronger. Music is the one of the best things we have don’t let ANYONE take that away!

Character
If there is beauty in the home.
If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.
Conclusion: If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the world.

We all want there to be peace in the world, but we don't want to try solving the problems we have in our family. You can’t expect the world to be full of love and peace when you don’t want to change the anger going around you. We have to start out small. For example, we can’t run until we have learned how to walk. In other words we can’t help change the world for the better if we don’t change ourselves and those around us for the better. Finding peace in the world is all about having good character. If we don’t have good character because instead of changing for the better we might make the world worse. Our heart has to be in the right place before we change the world. There can’t be peace if there isn’t peace in ourselves. Do you want to change the world? If so, start of small, with yourself and those who influence you, and then move on to creating peace in the world. One small action can change the world!

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”
-Thomas Carlyle
A rudder is the direction that the boat/ship is heading, without it the boat will just move in circles. That is the way we will move if we don’t have goals. Our goals head us into a certain direction, but without them we are lost and don’t know what to do. A ship without a rudder is lost, it is nothing and that’s how we are if we don’t have goals, we don’t have purpose. Our goals shape us and help us make the future we envision. For example, the goals that I created are all part of a bigger picture, at the end the result will be bigger than each goal. We can’t create our future if we don’t put milestones that we want to get to. The rudder is a very small piece, but a very important one as well. Without it the ship can’t survive and can’t get to it’s final place. This statement states that we can’t survive, we can’t live if we don’t have our rudder.

Memorial Day Weekend
This Memorial Day Weekend I didn’t do that much things that were fun like before. I just stayed home and be with my family. On Saturday I woke up early went out to eat and then I went to the Swap-Meet with my parents. After that we went to Target and then to Wal-Mart to buy an iTunes card. One of my favorite artists released their new EP and I wanted to get it, so I bought an iTunes card. The EP was Gone by Jack and Jack and I totally recommended. They have a lot of meaningful lyrics and their voice and music style have improved throughout the years, so I think you should give it a listen. On Sunday I stayed home and watched the soccer game with my parents. Starting Saturday I read this book, “Pushing The Limits,” and today I finished it. It is a really good book that will give you a roller-coaster of emotions. While reading the book I felt happy, angry, sad, worry, and then happy again. If you have the time I recommend you read it as well. For homework I worked on English and Bio-med. Movies that I watched were Twilight:Eclipse and Charlie St.Cloud. I also re-watch the three last episodes of my favorite show, Girl Meets World.

“When a deep injury is done to us, we never recover until we forgive.”
-Alan Paton
We can try and hate a person as much as we want, but that won’t do us any good. We shouldn’t hold grudges against anyone because that won’t make what’s wrong right, it will only make it worse. The only way to truly move on is to forgive each and ourselves. I like to think that believe we forgive others we need to forgive ourselves because what’s the point of others forgiving us if we still feel guilty. For example, there’s this show, Girl Meets World, that I used to watch that had an episode, “The Forgiveness Project,” relating to this topic. The episode was about one of the main characters learning to forgive her dad who left her when she was young. She couldn’t do it because there are certain things that take long to forgive. She wonder why her teacher asked her to do it if he knew she couldn’t and that’s when he told her the whole purpose of that project. He asked her if she had forgiven herself. She always blame herself for her dad leaving because she never knew the real reason she thought he left because she wasn’t good enough. The point was for her to know his reasons and when she did she knew that he left because he wasn’t ready. This lead to her forgiving herself and later on she could forgive him. This relates to the statement because she wasn’t able to move on until she forgive. It is important to forgive, but more important to forgive yourself.

“Dare to do right”
-Rex D. Pinegar
I can remember a time when I have done a dare to prove something to others, but I can’t remember when I was dare to do what’s right. We think we are all so strong and brave doing the dares that others tell me, but in reality it is the opposite. We are proving to be weak because someone who is strong does what they know is right and not what others tell us. We are proving that we are weak because we are easily manipulated by others. We are weak of mind because someone who is strong stands their ground. We shouldn’t do dares because some can cause accidents. For example, I remember a long time ago my cousin dare his cousin and friend to created a flame. One of them had the match while the other had the cologne.  My cousin’s cousin lighted the match and his friend released the cologne creating a big flame. Luckily, nothing happen to us, but it could have. They could have burned themselves, others, or the things around them. As you can see this could have created a tragedy just because of a dare. If you want to prove you are strong then dare to do right.

“Dare to stand alone.”
-Thomas S. Monson

We need to know how to stand our ground and do what we want not what others tell us. If you stand alone it doesn’t mean you are weak because you have no one with you. It means that you are strong even to believe in yourself and you don’t need anyone by your side. We so easily decide to do all these dares our friends tell us, but when it comes to standing up for what’s right we don’t do it. We need to be confident in what we believe in no matter what the crowd says. We aren’t our friends we are ourselves, so why do we do everything they do?! For example, I believe in what I believe and when someone bothers me about it I stand up for myself. I know it isn’t easy because most of us prefer to stand in the shadows and let others do the speaking for us. If we want to make this our world then we have to know how to stand up for ourselves. If you want the world to be a certain way then let your voice be heard. You can’t expect someone else to do what you want to do in this world. Don’t be afraid to be yourself. I know the society we live in makes us feel like other idea besides their own is wrong, but it isn’t. Just because we believe in different things it doesn’t make us wrong. It hard to stand alone, but the right things are always the hardest to do.

Also since other people don’t take care of themselves they made experience a heart attack or something similar that requires them to see a physical therapist.

Reflection:
I feel therapy an interesting career, but not physical. I like the type of therapy where you help people with problems they might have or advice they might need. So in other words I wouldn’t like to be a physical therapist because that isn’t my type of career. I have never imagine myself as a physical therapist and now that I learned about it I still don’t want to be one. It is an important medical career and I am happy it is increasing.

“If I’ve got correct goals, and if I keep pursuing them the best way I know how, everything else falls into line. If I do the right thing right, I’m going to succeed.
-Dan Dierdorf
In life we have to set goals, but we also need to make sure we accomplish them. We need to keep pursuing those goals/dreams until we accomplished them all. If you accomplished your goals then you won’t have to worry about anything else because it will all fall how it’s suppose to. You also have to make sure that you have the right goals. The goals that will help you become a better person. Making the right goals is as important as accomplishing them. For example, I have a lot of goals I want to completed, but if I’m not trying my best then what’s the point. We can’t just make goals and not reach them. The whole ideas is to completed them, not to forget about them. You will feel better if you have the correct goals and if you accomplish them. If you have goals and you accomplish them then everything else will be okay. This is a cause and effect; you do this and you get this back. It is that simply, we sometimes over complicate things. Just accomplish your goals, work hard, and try and this will help you succeed.

Professional Fiction Writers

The story in general has to be very detailed, so the reader can get a view of what is going on. Writing stories, scripts, lyrics, etc., is very difficult because they can get writer's block. This is when they can’t think of anything and they don’t know how to continue the stories.

Salary: $60,250 (more or less depending on how good the selling is)

Education:
Typically have a bachelor’s degree in language or writing. They need to know all the rules there is in the language they are writing the book in. They need to be creative, understanding writing mechanics, and possess knowledge. It is best to have a degree in English, journalism, and communication. You need to be good with your grammar.
Demand:
According to BLS, this career is slowly growing by 2%. Which is very slow compare to other careers.

Reflection:
I enjoy reading and find amazing how good authors are at creating this whole new world. For example, The Harry Potter Series takes place in a whole different place where magic is real and anything you can imagine can happen. I like how reading certain books can help you see the world with different eyes. They help you believe that anything is possible. Books take you to new places every time you turn the page. Like I said I love reading so I have think about giving it a try, try to write my own little story. I have try multiple times, but I always end up being in a writer’s block and I can’t think straight. I doubt fiction writing will be a career I will like to focus on, but I know that I will at least like to write a book one day.

Phillip Riggs’ Four Success Tips
  1. Work Hard.
  2. Follow your passions. Do things you are interested in doing.
  3. Don’t chase after money.
  4. Serve others. Do good things for others, and good things will come to you.

The first tip is telling us to never give up on the things we want to accomplish the most. If you really want something then you should chase until you have it. You have to realize that getting what you want doesn’t come easy, it isn’t handed down to you, you have to work for it. The second tip is pretty straight forward, do what you love. Don’t work on something just because you get better pay or because others are telling you to do it. Work on something that you love because at the end of day that’s all that matters. Don’t let anything get in your way, fight until you have accomplished your passions. Thirdly, don’t do things for the money. Money isn’t the most important thing. What’s the point of doing something if you don’t enjoy it. You will never have a wonderful life if you’re in it for money. Lastly, help others, we are all in this world together, so why not help each others. Treat others the way you want to be treated because what comes around goes around. You help others then you will get help when you need it.

“The most important thing you will ever have is good values.”
-Dennis Prager
This statement means that if we don’t have values then what is the point. You may have everything, but if you don’t have good values then what’s the point. Everyone has different values and that’s okay because we were all brought up differently. If your values aren’t like others it doesn’t make them wrong. The big issue is when you have to debate with yourself because your wants get in the way of your values. For example, let’s say that you really want to go out, but your aren’t allow. You really want to sneak out, but if you go by your values you know it isn’t right. We should have wants and feelings, but sometimes they get in the way of our values. In order to prevent this from happening you need to figure out what is more important. Your wants changed throughout your life, but values don’t. If you fall for one want and later on you realized you didn’t want that, you went against your value for nothing. Living without values is living like a zombie; you have no distance and no brain.

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.”
-Theodore Roosevelt
No matter how difficult a decision can be you should always do the right thing because it is the best thing to do. Doing what’s wrong will always be hard to give up because at that moment you may see many benefits, but it is always best to do what’s right. This world is full of evil, but there is still a few people who do what’s right and those people make this world a better place. For example, a couple months ago I found a portable charge in my desk, in this class to be precise. I have been wanting a portable charge for the longest time, but I knew if I wanted one I can easily buy one. There is no need to get someone else’s, even if they left it. Without even thinking about it I gave it to the teacher and he thank me telling me that someone will most likely be looking for it. The next time I had this class a boy came up to me and thank me for finding his charge because it turns out he had just bought it and felt bad when he had lost it. I know this is a small action compare to others, but we all have to start somewhere, right? Do what is right, right away, don’t think about it too much. If it is right then do it!

“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong.”
-Wilford Woodruff
People do what is wrong for many different reasons, but the most common one is because you gained knowledge from those mistakes. The truth is you don’t gained knowledge because if you choose the wrong you already know you are choosing the wrong and where’s the knowledge in that. Now if you decide to choose the right you do know that is right, but you gain so much more than that.  For example, you don’t know what will come from choosing the right, but you know that it’s good. You will gain something out of it unlike choosing the wrong. An example can be, let’s say that this group of people decide to go to a party and do illegal things. They already know that if they get caught they will be sent to jail, maybe only for a little well depending on what they did, but they do expect this to happen if they get caught. At the end they do got caught and they say, “Oh next time I wouldn’t do this because I know I can go to jail. Lesson learned.” This isn’t gained knowledge because they already knew this could happen yet they still did it. There wasn’t anything gained from this experience, it just proved what you already knew. My question is why do people have to experience things in order for them to understand, it shouldn’t be like that. If you want to gained something then do what is right!

“It”s A GREAT MOMENT when someone has the character to step up and do the right thing at the right time.”
-Pam Knox
Sometimes doing the the right thing isn’t the easiest or the most desirable, but it is still right. When we know something is wrong then we need to have the courage to step up and do what is right, right away. Even the smallest of things, if it isn’t right then stand up and admit it. You may not want to do it and it won’t feel so good at that moment, but in the long run you will feel good about it. For example, let’s say that you and another kid have the same name. You get the other kid’s credit and you realized it helped you out, a lot. You know it is best to say something, but you don’t want to. You think about it for a while and soon realize that you will feel guilty if you don’t do something. You decide to say something and because of your honesty you are rewarded a bigger price. No, you didn’t get more points, but you got the price of having a clear conscious.

“I have been asked what I mean by ‘word of honor.’ I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls--walls of stone ever so high, ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground--there is a possibility that in some way or another I might be able to escape; but stand me on the floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can I get out of that circle? No, never! I’d die first.”
-Karl G. Maeser
This statement means that our word is way more powerful than anything. Even if you promise to not do something even if it is easy, you wouldn’t do it because you promise not to. Your word of honor is something very powerful and some will rather die than break it. Karl mentions how he will try to get out of prison, but if he was surround by a circle and promise to never get out he won’t because he promised. Although getting out of a circle is way easier and isn’t breaking the law like getting out of prison is he will still stay in that circle. This is because he believes that your word of honor is more powerful than any law. For example, if someone tells me a secret and I give them my word than I will not say anything because I gave my word. I believe that a promise is meant to always be kept no matter what. Even if you aren’t friends with that person anymore, you promise you won’t say anything so you don’t. You don’t go behind that person’s back no matter what happens in the future. I live by that, I believe that, “A promise is a promise and it’s meant to be kept.” This relates to the statement because you gave your word, so you have to keep it.

The 10 Indian Commandments
  1. Treat the Earth and all that dwells therein with respect.
  2. Remain close to the Great Spirit.
  3. Show great respect to your fellow beings.
  4. Work together for the benefit of all mankind.
  5. Give assistance and kindness wherever needed.
  6. Do what you know to be right.
  7. Look after the well-being of mind and body.
  8. Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good.
  9. Be truthful and honest at all times.
  10. Take full responsibility for your actions.

Reflection:
Many of these talk about being good to yourself and your surroundings. They give us an inside about how the Indians lived their life. We see the code or law that they stand with. Just like every other group of people have their way of life they do too. With this list we get to know other things about them than what we usually learned. They help us see them in another light, different point of view. You can tell that they were really connected with their environment and they really cared about keeping the Earth clean and beautiful. By this we can tell how much our thoughts and our way of mind have changed throughout the years. Sadly, we don’t care about our planet as much as they did. I think that for sure this should be a thing we should fix, the way we treat our environment. Taking care of ourselves and others isn’t the only important thing. We need to look out for our planet because so far it’s the only one we have.
