You need a doctoral or professional degree. You also need to be licensed and complete any requirements that your state requires. A DPT programs mostly last 3 years to complete. Most programs require you to have a bachelor’s degree. You also need to complete 30 hours of clinical work. You also need to complete a residency program lasting about a year.
Demand:
The projected 10-year growth is 34%. This is actually high compare to other medical careers. It is increasing because some people stay active for longer than they did before. Also since other people don’t take care of themselves they made experience a heart attack or something similar that requires them to see a physical therapist.
Reflection:
I feel therapy an interesting career, but not physical. I like the type of therapy where you help people with problems they might have or advice they might need. So in other words I wouldn’t like to be a physical therapist because that isn’t my type of career. I have never imagine myself as a physical therapist and now that I learned about it I still don’t want to be one. It is an important medical career and I am happy it is increasing.
